Becoming an Interim Manager

If you are considering joining our Vantis Interim Management & Placement Services network we would ask that you please take note of the following criteria:

• You must have completed at least 3 interim or turnaround assignments
• You will need to demonstrate your abilities by case study and by testimonial or references from previous assignments - as current as possible
• We are also interested to hear from candidates that have worked on overseas assignments
• You must have your own limited company, a registered VAT number and your own professional indemnity insurance cover
• According to initial HM Revenue & Customs ( HMRC ) guidelines in respect of the new Money Laundering Regulations (MLR) introduced by HM Treasury which came into effect on 15 December 2007, interim providers and interim managers working through a personal service company were caught by the regulations under the category of Trust and Company Service Providers (TCSP).
  
  Over the past few months lawyers have been involved in successfully challenging HM Treasury on the types of businesses caught by the regulations. The outcome is that the majority of interim providers, interim managers and consultants will no longer have to register their businesses as a TCSP, or register the individuals as a 'fit and proper person'.
  
  The HMRC MLR Policy Unit has now published revised guidelines and these can be found at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/mlr/latest-news.htm . You should consider these carefully to decide whether or not you are required to register. If you have already registered unnecessarily you should be eligible for a refund. Again information in this regard will be available on the HMRC website.
  
  It should still be noted that, even if you do not have to be regulated under anti-money laundering legislation, the duty to 'know your client' and report suspicious activity under the Proceeds of Crime Act remains of paramount importance.
